About

Sharing her views on everything from marriage to morals to mistresses, Jersey Girl Lisa Tognola highlights the humorous side of suburban life: the good, the bad, and the ugly.  Think Erma Bombeck meets the ladies of Wisteria Lane.  She now adds published author to her list of credentials as a contributor to humor anthology, My Funny Valentine: America’s Most Hilarious Writers Take On Love, Romance, and Other Complications.  Lisa’s column at The Alternative Press is called “Main Street Musings,“ but her own blog has the classier title, Main Street Musings Blog. Equal parts lark and snark, her musings prove the funniest things happen in the suburbs, beyond dinner at Applebee’s. Her work can also be seen at online magazine More.com. Lisa is also a contributor to Funny Times newspaper. Follow her on twitter @lisatognola.

Hey Lisa, thanks for taking the time to stop by my blog and subscribe. I look forward to seeing your comments, which I’m sure, at least part of the time, will be witty, based on what I’ve seen of your blog so far.

    Hi Lisa
Thank you for visiting my baby blog. I cried when we left NJ. Loved it. Lived in Collingswood. Sigh.

    • Main Street Musings Blog March 1, 2012 at 6:17 pm #

Hi Tina. I cried when we moved to NJ. :) But now I’ve learned to appreciate the change of seasons (and tolerate the long winters). Hope you’re happy where you’ve landed!

    Lisa,
There’s a humorous side to a suburban life?
    Le Clown

    • Main Street Musings Blog July 31, 2012 at 5:55 pm #

Bring it on, Clown. I’ll see your clown nose and raise you a gift card to Applebee’s.

      • clownonfire July 31, 2012 at 5:57 pm #

        Lisa,
Applebee’s? Who’s that, the mayor of Suburbialand?
        Le Clown

      • Main Street Musings Blog July 31, 2012 at 6:03 pm #

I am the mayor of Suburbialand and I just increased my clown tariff, so pony up, Le Clown.

      • clownonfire July 31, 2012 at 6:05 pm #

        Lisa,
You speak American… Could you please speak Metric to this Canadian man?
        Le Clown

      • Main Street Musings Blog July 31, 2012 at 6:08 pm #

        Rock band, or measurement?

      • clownonfire July 31, 2012 at 6:11 pm #

        Lisa,
Ok, you win. Any threat which involves Nickelback is enough to make Le Clown back away. Speaking of great Canadians, what’s up with Roller Giraffe? I say we petition to get her back on the blogosphere…

      • Main Street Musings Blog July 31, 2012 at 6:16 pm #

Really? I’ve only ever won in tennis. I enjoyed the banter. We’ll have to do it again sometime. Didn’t know about Roller Giraffe. I’ll see what I can do. I am mayor, after all . . .

      • clownonfire July 31, 2012 at 6:18 pm #

        Lisa,
I agree. Now I will unlock my 2 1/2 yr old daughter from the wardrobe, change her bowl of water, and pretend I’m her father for fifteen minutes, while we watch TV. Perhaps Pulp Fiction.

        Dark, Le Clown. Very dark.

Loved reading through your work. I started in on the Pizza delivery reminiscing about my own past friday nights with Dominos and a VHS. I was really on memory lane with Fantasy island – I’m an all-around fan of Montalban… Then I suddenly realized that I had stumbled into the wrong fantasy (was that ever a problem on the island? I can’t remember). Good work, but it was distracting hearing some other guy’s name. I just couldn’t get into it.

I look forward to reading more. Best – Jack

    • Main Street Musings Blog August 1, 2012 at 8:55 am #

Thanks! Glad you’re enjoying my blog. Sorry about the distraction. Next time I’ll write it Madlibs style so you can insert your own name. ;)

Why not under the hood?? What’s there?? What secrets are you hiding from me?? This could be a start of rumours, gossip, even a conspiracy theory escalating into UFOs, political intrigue or sex scandals ;) Ralph x
